No make up, no filters. Just sun kissed, sand blasted, and salted. Took a small break from life last week, to drink watermelon crushes on the beach, swim in the pool, and get a little tomato girl summer tan. So here I am, back home in front of my dance mirror. Why? Because the view count on Substack doubles for some reason when my face (and body) guest star. My bewbs have precious little to do with today’s topic except perhaps in an indirect way.
What I really want to talk about is House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon is not for me.
I have many thoughts on this, none of which I will share here. Mainly because I’ve worked on sets before. I know how much love, sweat, and tears go into any production. The crew has to work their asses off, are often asked to do impossible tasks, and deal with very difficult circumstances. Also, my opinions on House of the Dragon, like my picture, are irrelevant. So even though I realized quite quickly that the show wasn’t for me, (I loved Game of Thrones), I found myself watching it anyway. I even found myself contemplating watching it again. (I didn’t.)
Why watch a show I don’t jive with? Because Rhys Ifans. Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower. Rhys Ifans with a beard. Looking dignified, with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Clapping back ferociously at his wayward grandson, the King. You could say that I’m a Rhys Ifans fan. A “Rhys Ifans stan” if you will. If you were an Astrocartographer, you could that say my attraction to a random Welsh actor who is over 15 years older then me, is entirely predictable.

My Sun Line runs through Wales. I go gaga for Welsh dudes with beards for the same reason I found myself suddenly and profoundly drawn to Scottish Gaelic. I ended up studying it for years (and not just on Duolingo.) Why? I was just drawn to it. It felt natural. It felt right for some reason. It’s no coincidence that I always have two blocks of different Spanish cheeses in my fridge at any given time. Some of the places my Sun line runs through are Iceland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, parts of Spain, France, and Ireland. (And that’s just Europe! My Sun line runs through Costa Rica too. 🥳)
So what the hell is “Astrocartography” or “Locational Astrology”?
It’s a branch of Astrology that places your birth chart on top of the World Map to suss out how different locations affect you in different ways. It’s a whole overwhelming can of worms to open up…even for a life long Astrology nerd like myself. I started investigating it years ago, only to eventually put it down after finding it tedious and confusing.
Last year, I happened to catch a fantastic live with Gala Darling interviewing Astrologer Steffi Hill. Steffi encouraged people to start with finding their Sun Line. So that’s what I did.
What is your Sun Line?
According the Wiki How:
“This line shows you the locations that are attuned to your core personality. Whenever you’re there, you’ll feel the most like yourself, experience success, and influence others. If you want to experience a massive boost of self-confidence and generally live your best life, head to one of these spots.”
If your sun placement represents who you came here to be then the sun line is where you can go to be it. So look it up and book a trip. Or explore the culture, food, and music of your sun line from the comfort of home. Watch a show set in your Sun Line. Take a look at things you’ve loved in your life and see if you find a connection. Then tell me about it. I’m fascinated.
Here’s how to look it up:
Go to Astro.com
(This is the link to take you directly to the Astrotravel Section.)
Click “Enter birth data and create a user profile”.
Enter your birth data….yup, you’ll need your birth time.
Register.
Congrats! Here is your Locational Astrology Chart. At the top you’ll find your name and a drop down menu that says “Scalable Map”. Click on the drop down menu and pick which Continent you’d like to see (or click “world”). Once you’ve chosen, click “Go”.
Your Sun Line is the orange line with the Circle glyph.
You can click places on the map then scroll down to read about them. When you’ve clicked a location in/near your Sun Line, you’ll see this description:
Happy Travels!
